MissionFish helps nonprofits fundraise on eBay (and PayPal)
- Since 2003, MissionFish has been eBay's exclusive charitable partner, helping to raise over a quarter billion dollars by powering the eBay Giving Works program. In 2011, eBay established the PayPal Charitable Giving Fund, an IRS-registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization to operate MissionFish and further its charitable purpose of helping nonprofits raise funds through online commerce.
- The organization makes giving safe, easy and reliable by:
- Certifying that nonprofits participants are tax-deductible and meet standards against hate, violence and intolerance.
- Collecting donations from users and delivering them to nonprofits as intended.
- Managing the tax benefits of giving.

Our Mission, Our Name
- Our mission is to help nonprofits find new sources of unrestricted funding through online commerce. Our name is fun, but it's really an explanation of our purpose:
- Good organizations should get to focus more on their missions, and less on keeping the doors open. Our "Mission" is to help them serve theirs.
- The "Fish" in our name borrows an analogy from Share Our Strength founder Bill Shore: Rather than "giving fish" to keep a nonprofit running, or even "teaching them to fish," we're trying to "build fisheries" that sustain good causes over the long-term.
- Our mission is part of a larger vision, which can be summed up as: any cause, any donor, any gift. To make that happen, we're making it easy for people to give as a part of their daily lives, and we're working to change the way that we all think about philanthropy.

- Our primary channel for raising awareness and support for nonprofits is through eBay Giving Works, an award-winning program that enables members of the eBay community to donate to their favorite cause. Sellers can give a portion of the proceeds from their sales, buyers can add a donation to their purchase during checkout, and anyone with a PayPal account donate to nonprofits right away – without buying or selling anything.
- Better yet, eBay Giving Works makes it easy and cost effective for nonprofits to sell items in the world's largest online marketplace. Special features help nonprofit items stand out and, if the listing sells, eBay will credit back 100% of their insertion and final value fees.
